Courses will be offered provided a sufficient number of currently enrolled customers have pre-registered their interest. Final registration for courses will be conducted through a work2future training specialist.

Course Description: There are two components of the Nursing Assistant program consisting of one hundred fifty (150) hours of lecture, skills lab, and clinical practice:

• Theoretical: 50 hours

• Clinical and skills lab: 100 hours; held at a healthcare facility

This program discusses Role and Responsibilities of Nursing Assistant, Residents' Rights, Communication and Interpersonal Skills, Prevention and Management of Catastrophe and Unusual Occurrences, Body Mechanics, Medical and Surgical Asepsis, Weights and Measures, Patient Care Skills, Patient Care Procedures, Vital Signs, Nutrition, Emergency Procedures, Long Term Care Patients, Rehabilitative Nursing, Observation and Charting, and Death and Dying.  Completion of this program also prepares the student to take the competency examination, which qualifies the candidate for the State (California) Certification as a Nurse Assistant to become a CNA. State exam is not included in the course.
